44JC802

Jamestown 2007

Excavation of 44JC802 revealed 25 features, including three post-in-ground structures, three slot trenches, a well, a daub pit, and a storage pit. Where not impacted by sub-surface features, the site contained three strata: 1) topsoil, 2) plowzone, and 3) leeched subsoil. Archaeologists dug the site by hand, dividing the plowzone into 5' squares and fully excavating most sealed contexts. Excavators screened 100% of the fill they dug.
