| Reverend Buck Phase 1 44JC568 | ![]() |
![]() Phase 1 (ca. 1630-40) contained Well 3 and Burials 1, 5, and 6. Seriate analysis of European pipestem bore diameters placed the wells in chronological order (3-1-2). Pipestem histograms and pottery-based seriate studies also isolated and distinguished Well 3 from later features. Burials 1, 5, and 6 appeared to be the earliest graves on the basis of stratigraphy (Burial 1 was cut by Shed 1), the lack of brick and charcoal in the fill, and common orientation. Thomas Crump, husband of Elizabeth (Buck) Crump, owned and managed the property containing 44JC568 during this time. | |
