2.2.2 Functional Morphology There is marked elongation of both acetabulae and the superior rims appear buttressed and reinforced. Porosity is present on the superior margins and acetabular joint surfaces. Porotic changes are more evident on the left side and superior elongation is more marked on the right. The acetabular fossa, the attachment site for the ligamentum teres, exhibits evidence of superior relocation which is supported by porosity on the articular lunate surfaces within the acetabulae. Both femoral necks have large Poirier’s facets. These changes likely reflect a history of frequent horseback riding for this individual. |
