Brass Straight Pins
|
|
Over 300 brass straight pins and 100 pin fragments without heads have been recovered from James Fort. They range in length from 30 mm to 51 mm. Pins were used extensively in the 17th century, not only in the process of constructing garments, but also to hold some clothing, particularly accessories, together. They are also commonly found in Virginia's colonial period burials where they were used to fasten the cloth shroud wrapping the body. |
