  Pan and Pan Cover

The pan is mounted on the barrel of the matchlock and it is the element that holds the powder prior to ignition. The pan cover is manually closed over the pan to keep the powder dry and prevent it from spilling out. The pan and pan cover on the right were found together and are from the same gun.
