Covered Dish Summer Speaker Series 2010

The Covered Dish Summer Speaker Series is held at 6 pm at Wellford Hall of St. John’s Church, Warsaw. This popular, well-attended series has sponsored a wide variety of speakers on a broad range of topics over the years. The price remains the same-a covered dish to add to the buffet table. A bottle of wine is always appreciated for sharing.

JULY

Thursday, July 15 – Thomas Nelson, Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Governor of Virginia will be our guest at Wellford Hall. He will talk about his part in the Yorktown Tea Party and the War for Independence.

Tuesday, July 20 – Marty Taylor will talk about her book The River Me and what it was like growing up in Morattico. She will also be available to autograph her book.


Tuesday, July 27 – Come learn about spies during the American Revolution. David Robarge the Chief Historian for the Center for the Study of Intelligence in Washington, DC will be the speaker.



AUGUST


Thursday, August 12 Andrew Packett and Francene Barber will talk about Warsaw and the Images of America book Warsaw.

Tuesday, August 17 – “Raiders of the Lost Cause”, a talk by Sam Craghead on the Confederate Navy.

Thursday, August 26 – The curator of the James Monroe Law Office will talk about James Monroe.

Tuesday, August 31 – Letitia Montagu Grant will present a program on her Great Grandmother Harriot Lee Taliaferro Montagu, a 19th century Virginia artist.
