The Northern Virginia Branch serves as Preservation Virginia's presence in the Northern Virginia region. This includes the counties of Arlington, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park. Though there are no Preservation Virginia properties in the Northern Virginia region, the Branch is active with several non-profit preservation organizations that assist to preserve and interpret the importance of local history and historic sites.

The mission of the Northern Virginia Branch is:
Preservation Virginia, Northern Virginia Branch, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the irreplaceable historic structures, landscapes, collections, communities and archaeological sites in Northern Virginia and the surrounding communities.
